BEFORE THE METHOD

Before it was a method, it was a private practice — and before that, it was a way of getting out of his own head.

For thirty years Christopher Radcliffe worked inside structure — brand systems, strategy, the architecture of ideas, the kind of thinking where every decision has to justify itself in language. He was good at it. He also spent those same thirty years at a table with paper, ink and charcoal, doing something that didn't have to justify itself to anyone, least of all him.

The practice didn't begin as a way to make anything. It began because it was the only place logic couldn't follow him. No brief, no audience, no outcome to defend. Just pressure, instinct, and whatever showed up on the page before there was a chance to explain it.

The Discovery

What became apparent, eventually, wasn't the work being made. It was what the making did to him. Something in the repetition and friction of it would loosen a grip he didn't know he was holding. Thoughts he'd been circling for weeks would resolve, sideways, without ever being argued into place. It didn't feel like art. It felt like the only honest thinking happening all week.

THE STRATEGIST.
THE ARTIST.

Mitología is that discovery, translated for someone else to have. Not the finished drawings — those were never the point — but the state that produced them. The strategist built the architecture: how the room works, what holds it together, why it's structured the way it is. The artist supplied the thing worth protecting inside that structure: silence, instinct, permission to make something with no destination.

It exists for people who are, in some way, doing what he was doing at that table — carrying too much structure, and needing somewhere it isn't required to make sense.

THE REFUSAL

Mitología began with a refusal of over-explanation, optimization and the constant demand that everything make immediate sense.

We live in a culture that over-indexes on logic and language. Every action must be justified, every creative spark quantified and every hour optimised to yield a predictable result.

THE counterforce

This environment was born from a desire to step entirely outside that loop. It is a deliberate space built for the unforced, the unsaid and the purely material.

It exists to protect the vital parts of creative thinking and decision-making that cannot — and should not — be turned into a spreadsheet.
